Guernsey Athletics Club
Guernsey Athletics Club is the island’s main hub for track, field, and endurance athletes, with a thriving community of juniors, seniors, and masters athletes. I worked with the club to manage their social media presence, creating content that reflected both the day-to-day activity of the club and its larger events and campaigns.

While some posts gave followers an insight into life at the club, the main focus of the content was event promotion. This included building excitement around flagship races like the Butterfield Half Marathon, cross country leagues, and the iconic Dogbreaker cliff race. I also developed and launched targeted campaigns to support participation drives, volunteer recruitment, and sponsorship opportunities.

The goal was always to help the club engage the local community, grow attendance at events, and celebrate the achievements of its athletes all with a friendly, accessible tone that reflects the spirit of Guernsey’s athletics scene.

The problem
Guernsey Athletics Club were running successful events and had a busy training calendar, but managing social media was becoming a hassle. They wanted someone to take it off their plate so they could focus on running the club itself. The account needed regular updates, not just occasional posts before big events, and they wanted a consistent, cohesive look and tone across everything they shared.
They also wanted to make sure their events reached a wider audience, helping to attract not just club members, but also casual runners, volunteers, and local supporters. With limited time and resources, they needed a clear, organised approach to promotion not just last-minute posts.
Solution & strategy
I took over full social media management for Guernsey Athletics Club, with a focus on content planning, consistency, and event promotion. We started with a clear content plan, balancing regular posts about life at the club with carefully structured campaigns to promote key events like the Butterfield Half Marathon. No more last-minute posts, just organised, professional content that built real momentum and kept the community engaged year-round.

It wasn’t only about events. A key part of the strategy was showcasing the accessibility of athletics, helping more people feel that the club was a space for everyone. I also made sure we celebrated athlete achievements both locally and internationally, working directly with athletes like Alastair Chalmers to share content from major competitions, including representing Team GB on the world stage. To give everything a professional, cohesive feel, I developed a consistent visual style and tone of voice for the account. I also worked directly with sponsors to help shape branded content that aligned with both the club’s goals and sponsor messaging, making partnerships feel natural and purposeful.
With forward planning, sponsor collaboration, and on-brand content, I helped turn their social media into something the club could be proud of, a space that represented the full scale of their community, their ambition, and their success.
